LIVES / WORKS IN BROOKLYN AND SWEDEN

 

Born and raised in Stockholm, Anna Sörenson received her BFA from Umeå University in northern Sweden and subsequently pursued an exchange semester with Parsons the New School in New York.  Anna received her MFA from Pratt Institute in 2012 through a Fulbright Scholarship.


Sörenson has previously worked for the artists Pat Steir and Joseph Kosuth.  Anna has exhibited in Sweden, Germany and New York.  Anna also lectured at Hunter College in the spring of 2012.  Upon completing her MFA, Sörenson received a grant from the American Embassy in Sweden to study American land art in California, Nevada and Utah in summer 2012. 


She assembled her first solo exhibition this fall, at Ed Varie in New York City, highlighting her works on paper. Sörenson's next solo exhibition in Stockholm is scheduled to open in 2013, presenting her 'Suitcase Paintings'.  She has also been selected as the artist in residnce at the Wassic Project in spring 2013.
